There’s something healing about being outside in the sunshine. Fresh air, natural light, warmth on your skin, it’s one of the simplest ways to reconnect with nature and slow down a little. For years, sunlight has almost been treated like something to fear completely, but the truth is our bodies were designed to benefit from healthy sun exposure in moderation.

Getting outside for a short amount of time each day can help support vitamin D levels, mood, circadian rhythm, and overall well-being. I personally love spending a little intentional time outdoors before layering on extra protection for longer days outside.

That being said, protecting your skin still matters, especially durning long periods of sun exposure. That’s why I’ve been switching over to mineral based, more nontoxic sunscreen options that I feel better about using daily.

Here are a few of my current favorites:

Mineral Body Sunscreen– love this but hope they switch to more sustainable packing one day instead of plastic.

Hydrating Mineral Face Sunscreen

Sun Gazer Sun Balm

Everyday Sheer Sunscreen– pricey but worth it!

Body and Face Mineral Sunscreen– this is new to me but loving it so far.

Face and Body Sunscreen– I’ve used raw elements for years now and glad this still comes in a tin but not happy they moved a lot of their stuff into plastic packaging.

The Complete Sun Ritual Bundle– I love primally pure but I wish the sunscreen came in glass packaging instead of plastic.

What I personally look for in a sunscreen: Zinc oxide-based formulas, minimal ingredients, reef-friendly options, fragrance free, brands focused on cleaner ingredients.

I also think balance matters. Sunlight can be beneficial, but overexposure isn’t ideal either. Everyone’s skin is different, so listening to your body and being mindful of your environment is important.

My personal approach: Get outside daily, enjoy moderate sun exposure, protect my skin durning longer outdoor time, focus on cleaner ingredients whenever possible

At the end of the day, I truly believe we were created to live connected to nature, not separated from it. Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is step outside, slow down, soak up some sunshine, and take care of our bodies intentionally.

Lazy people are soon poor; hard workers get rich.

I’m Jess

I’m a lover of all things life. If I could have 50 careers, I would! (I’m like a Jess of all trades lol, good at a lot of things but not great at one thing.) But for now, I’m sharing my passions-from organization, cleaning, and productivity to health, faith and my love (slight obsession) for cozy stormy days- all in one place. Welcome to my little space where all my interests collide!
